Flash flood and severe threats continue today —

AREAL FLOOD WARNINGS and FLASH FLOOD WATCHES continue through the day today. Widespread 2-5″ rain fell with yesterday’s severe storms and another 1-3″ of rain is likely today. Many roads are closed due to flooding, there have been water rescues overnight, please heed any warnings and closures!

A new squall line is approaching as the cold front works to pass through the Ozarks.

The line of storms pushes through Springfield early this afternoon and clears to the east by 7 PM.

ENHANCED RISK of severe weather is posted for this squall line. Main threats will be 70 mph winds, quarter size hail, and flash flooding. A few tornadoes cannot be ruled out especially, east of HWY 65. Stay weather aware again tonight! More watches and warnings are likely.

Highs warm into the 70’s.

Once the front clears east, dry air arrives and skies clear overnight tonight. Lows drop into the 50’s.

Expect quiet, warm sunshine tomorrow with highs in the 80’s.

An area of high pressure sets up to the south Thursday and Friday, keeping an isolated storm chance north. Highs stay warm in the 80’s.

The high pressure breaks down bringing more storm chances this weekend.
