A few storms this afternoon, heat and humidity continue

A few storms this afternoon, heat and humidity continue ---

Did the thunder wake you up? A line of strong storms is moved through the Ozarks this morning. It came through Springfield with a gust of 42 mph! However, it only dropped 0.12" at the airport, our first measurable rain this month!

The cold front that brought this line this morning will hang out across the area this afternoon. That will leave the door open to a few, redeveloping thunderstorms after 2 PM, especially along and south of I-44 where the front will sit.

With the lull in storms between the morning and afternoon rounds, temperatures will have no problem popping back up towards 90 degrees. Hot and humid high of 92 will feel closer to 100 degrees.

An isolated storm is possible tonight, otherwise, we'll be mostly cloudy, warm, and muggy with a low of 73 degrees.

Our front still hangs to the south tomorrow, bringing an additional chance for scattered showers and storms. With a little more cloud cover, temperatures will be "cooler" in the upper 80's, but still very humid.

High pressure starts to kick the front out Thursday with just an isolated chance for storms. Expect mostly sunny skies and building heat/ humidity yet again. Highs rebound back into the lower 90's with heat index values approaching 100 degrees.

Friday and Saturday will be very hot with temperatures in the middle 90's and heat indices at 100 degrees.

The heat continues for Father's Day on Sunday. Chance of storms returns Monday.
