City Utilities shares total outage number after New Year’s winter weather

Weather

UPDATE: 11:20 a.m.

City Utilities has announced there are now about 70 customers without power, with some who will require work from an electrician to restore the power.

In the same press release, City Utilities confirmed that yesterday’s storm impacted about 50% of feeders (lines that connect to neighborhoods from substations).

Response to the outages began at about 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

“Response was slowed and affected by the continuing weather pattern as it dropped rain and ice as temperatures fell in the Springfield area,” City Utilities said in a press release.
