Hot & humid today, storms late evening/ overnight ---

It was a steamy weekend and today will be no different!

Expect mostly sunny skies this afternoon with just a few clouds filtering through. It will be hot and humid, high of 94 degrees will feel closer to 100 degrees. A few storms could bubble after 2 PM this afternoon due to the heat and humidity, but a healthier chance of storms will come overnight.

We've had a ridge, or dry pattern, hold off the storms Sunday and it will do the same for most of Monday. A cold front will start to knock down that dry pattern this afternoon, sending storms into the area overnight.

A line of showers and storms should fire up around KC around 7 PM. This line will push into the Ozarks after midnight tonight. It is expected to be more organized in the way of severe weather to our northwest, but as it gets into our area it will diminish, and shrivel up.

IF storms can hold together, there would be a damaging wind threat mainly to the northwest of Springfield before storms collapse as they get to the metro tomorrow morning.

A few storms are possible Tuesday afternoon as the front hangs to our south through the day. It will still be hot and humid with highs in the lower 90's.

Storm chances continue Wednesday as the front hangs in the area. Expect a few more clouds and highs in the upper 80's.

A hot, dry pattern starts to lift over the Ozarks on Thursday, turning off the storm chances and cranking the heat and humidity. Highs will be in the lower to middle 90's Thursday through the weekend with mostly sunny skies and heat indices approaching 100 degrees.
