New Study Shows Link Between Social Media and Depression

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Staying “connected” through social media could actually be making you feel more alone.

According to a new study, there is a link between social media use and feelings of depression and loneliness.

Testing undergrad students from the University of Pennsylvania, researchers found that spending less time on social media decreases depression and loneliness.

Student participants report feeling more positive with less screen time, learning to stop comparing their lives to the lives of others.
