UPDATE 9/3/2023: A man from Lampe is dead after yesterday’s crash near Kimberling City.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report, the wreck happened on State Highway 13 near Armadillo Lane at around 10:00 a.m. on Sep. 2.

John E. Wiatt, 70, was killed when a southbound Buick LeSabre swerved into the opposite lane, hitting a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The Buick then slid in the northbound lane and hit a Chevy Silverado, driven by Wiatt.

Wiatt was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Buick was taken to a Springfield hospital in serious condition. The driver of the F-150 was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

This is MSHP Troop D’s 100th fatality for 2023.

KIMBERLING CITY, Mo. — A crash involving at least two cars is slowing down traffic on State Highway 13 near Stoneridge for a while this morning.

The Kimberling City Police Department is advising drivers heading north and south between Branson West and Kimberling City to seek alternate routes if possible.

Traffic on Highway 13 is moving slowly while the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigates the crash.
