Now for a TIME OUT:
Let’s talk about baseball.
And just in time for the holiday season, “bah-humbug” to the New York Yankees and Scrooge Giancarlo Stanton.
After teasing the Giants and the Cardinals for three weeks, Stanton agreed to a trade with the Bronx Bombers.
Now I’m not blaming Stanton for trying to land on a team that gives him the best opportunity to win.
And I don’t even blame the Yankees for signing him.
It’s just the smug way both went about their business.
First of all, Stanton never wanted to play for the Giants or the Cardinals.
But the Marlins new CEO Derek Jeter only set up interviews with those two teams.
Then Stanton went to those interviews only to spy on their negotiating tactics.
When the dust had cleared, Stanton agreed to be traded to the Yankees saying it’s what I’ve always wanted and what I’ve dreamed of.
Good for you Scrooge, I mean Stanton, you’ll still get your $295 million over the next 10 years and get to play with Aaron Judge.
And the rest of Major League Baseball looks like Patsy’s. Can we start hating the Yankees now or do we have to wait until baseball starts?
What do you think of Giancarlo Stanton going to the Yankees?
