Strafford girls ready to reload

Strafford’s four senior starters became four-time state champions Friday at JQH Arena. They closed their prep careers on a 115-game win streak, but they said afterward the Lady Indians are still the team to beat.

Despite losing Hayley and Kayley Frank, Kyndall Compton and Madison Chittenden, all four-time champs, Strafford still plans to compete for championships going forward.

“A lot of people are thinking that it’s over, that these seniors are what [we] had. I wouldn’t count these younger girls out,” Chittenden said. “They put in just as much work every single day, sometimes more work than us, and I think next year that’s really gonna show.”

Hayley Frank put a final feather in her cap in her last game, finishing her career with 3,004 career points and a state-record 1,629 career rebounds. She is headed to Columbia to play for Robin Pingeton at Mizzou.
