Stormy Night Ends In Cards Loss

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals started play Thursday night just a half game behind Northwest Arkansas in the race for a Texas League playoff ticket.

There are four games left in the first half after the game.

The Cards trying to beat Arkansas for the second straight night.

But the Travs would get on the board in the first inning, Beau Amaral takes this deep to right, over the boards and gone a two run shot it's 2-nothing Arkansas.

Springfield gets one of them back in the second, Chris Chinea singles to left, Evan Mendoza scores it's 2-one.

Stayed that way until the fifth inning when Amaral would do it again, this time a bullet past Luke Voit at first into right, Braden Bishop scores it's 3-one.

Later in that second, Chuck Taylor takes this to left, it drops fair on the line, a double that scores Amaral, it's 4-one.

Springfield flashing the leather to end that fifth, Blake Drake with the diving catch in right.

But that's when a thunderstorm rolled into Hammons and delayed the game.

But after a nearly two hour delay, the game was called with the Travs winning 5-1.
