SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Springfield Cardinals were looking for their third straight win Wednesday afternoon against Tulsa.
And the Cards had ace Jack Flaherty on the hill.
Flaherty took a 6-0 record into the game.
But Tulsa would jump on him in the top of the first, Kyle Farmer takes this pitch deep to left center, over the boards and gone, a solo shot it’s 1-nothing.
Flaherty would bounce back, and strike out the side in the second including Stetson Allie here.
But Farmer would get to Flaherty again in the third, this grounder just out of the reach of Jacob Wilson at third, Walker Buehler scores it’s 2-nothing.
Flaherty went four and a third innings giving up three runs.
It was 6-1 in the eighth when the Cards tried to rally, Jesse Jenner’s pop up behind second base drops in fair, Anthony Garcia scores it’s 6-2.
It was 7-3 in the ninth, Springfield had the bases loaded when Adolis Garcia’s drives this to center, Tulsa’s Johan Mieses with the diving catch, a run scores to make it 7-4.
Then Jacob Wilson’s line drive is snagged by Tulsa’s third baseman, and Tulsa hangs on and wins 7-4.
