Springfield Cardinals Fall in Shootut with Drillers

SPRINGFIELD, Mo — The Springfield Cardinals called up Evangel grad Blake McKnight from Palm Beach yesterday. The former Crusader was drafted in 2013, and hoping to pitch some innings out of the bullpen tonight as the Cards took on the Drillers.

The game would start delayed, as an overcast loomed over Hammons Field. But the Cardinals wasted no time getting on the board. Luke Voit would smack a double, scoring Bruce Caldwell,

In the 3rd, the Drillers came right back. Alex Verdugo takes this out of the park. This two run shot made it 3-1. 

Then in the 5th, McKnight got his chance out of the bullpen.

He would be met by Edwin Rios and a Driller army. This sacrifice fly would bring in a run. 

McKnight would give up 4 runs in 2/3 innings, as the Cardinals fall 11-8.
