Salukis Hand Bears Another Valley Loss

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The one thing that Mssouri Sate baseball coach Keith Guttin needs in a bad way is a winning streak.

In our Bear Nation report, it needs to start now.

Missouri State started a three game Valley series with Southern Illinois in last place in the conference.

But the Bears are coming off a big time win over Arkansas earlier this week.

And have won five straight against the Salukis.

Southern Illinois had Chad Whitmer on the hill and he was throwing b-b’s, he gets Alex Jefferson swinging.

The Salukis get on the board in the second, Taylor Martin takes this deep to left, over the bullpen and gone, a two run shot it’s 2-nothing Southern Illinois.

The Bears flashing the leather in the second, the drive to right, and Blake Graham on his horse makes the diving catch to end the inning.

SIU gets more in the third, a man on third, and Logan Blackfan lines out to right, Connor Kopach scores it’s 3-nothing.

Missouri State gets the offense going in the sixth, Hunter Steinmetz singles up the middle, Landan Ruff scores it’s 3-1.

Then Spencer Johnson singles to right, Steinmetz scores, they try to bring home Jake Burger but he’s gunned out at the plate, 3-2.

And Southern Illinois beats the Bears 5-4.
