Report: Sorensen Needs Knee Surgery

ST. JOSEPH, Mo–The Kansas City Chiefs took Wednesday off from training camp.

Thursday, they’ll play the Houston Texans in the first preseason game of the exhibition season.

But Chiefs coach Andy Reid will have some issues on defense.

ESPN is reporting that Kansas City Safety Daniel Sorensen will have to have surgery on his knee and will miss the entire preseason and may miss the first four games of the regular season.

Sorensen injured that knee in practice earlier this week.

He was penciled in to be one of the starters in the secondary.

Reid had these comments on what he expects to see from his young defense in Thursday’s game against the Texans.

“You’re looking for assignment football. You’re looking when the juices get going how you handle that. You’re in the stadium with the fans there. We’ve had a great turnout here, but it’s a little different with the lights on and it’s game time. It’s one more evaluation period that you have a chance to see these guys in,” said Reid.
