O’FALLON, Mo–The New Covenant Warriors are one victory away from claiming their first ever Class 1 state championship.

And it’s only the baseball Warriors second year of varsity play.

New Covenant facing Northwest high out of Hughesville in this Tuesday semifinal.

And the Warriors would strike in the top of the first inning.

C.J. Fernelius singles to center, Ryan Carmack scores it’s 1-nothing Warriors.

Ian Pope follows with another single to center,  Josh Isbell scores 2-nothing New Covenant.

The Warriors add more in the third, again it’s Fernelius with another single, this time to right, Cody Malan scores it’s 3-nothing.

Fernelius was 4 for 4 with a run scored and two RBI.

And New Covenant goes onto win 5-nothing and will play Bell City Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. for the Class 1 state championship.
