Missouri State Softball falls just short of upset against No. 14 Arkansas

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Despite out hitting No. 14 Arkansas, Missouri State softball stranded nine runners as they fell to the Razorbacks 2-1.

The Bears pitching continued to impress.

Fresh off a no-hitter, sophomore Steffany Dickerson (13-5) went five innings and struck out three.

She was followed in the circle by freshman Bailey Greenlee who retired all six batters she faced including one strikeout.

Both of Arkansas’ runs came in the second after a pair of Bear errors ended with two runs for the visitors.

Darby Joerling brought the score within one in the fifth inning with an RBI groudnout to score Kyana Mason.

Missouri State would have a chance in the final frame with a runner on second, but a bobbled put out by the Razorbacks ended the game 2-1 in their favor.

The Bears (20-13, 6-4) resume conference play on Saturday with a weekend series in Peoria, Ill. against the Bradley Braves (17-13, 5-3).
