SPRINGFIELD, Mo–A possible blow out, turned close win, either way Thursday night’s victory over Northern Iowa has the Bears 3-0 in the Valley for the first time since the 2010- 2011 season.
The two major stories coming out of Thursday night’s game. One, Alize Johsnon went off for 24 points and 20 rebounds. There’s only been five 20-20 games in basketball this year, Johnson has two of them.
The other, the Bears led the Panthers by 19 with 6 minutes to go. However, UNI nearly came back in the final seconds as Missouri State missed 6 straight free throws in the final two minutes.
But any way you cut it, the Bears got an important 62-55 win.
“We gave to great of an effort. We got casual, up 16 or 17 points. We gave somethings away that we shouldn’t have cause we’ve worked too hard. They’ll fix it. They’ll learn from it. I’ll fix it. We knew Northern Iowa would come in here with their back against the wall, they are a championship level program. They jumped on us. We did some really good things and missed some shots. It’s a good win and now you have to move on to the next one,” said Paul Lusk.
