Four Springfield Cardinals will spend the upcoming Texas League break representing the club at the All-Star game in Midland.
Lane Thomas, a Knoxville, Tenn. native, is batting .248 with 13 home runs, 12 stolen bases and leads the team with 45 runs batted in.
Thomas was drafted out of high school and started in the Blue Jays organization before being traded to the Cardinals. He said he is thrilled to be an All-Star.
“It’s cool. My mom and my mom’s side of the family have a cousin there. So they’re going to come and hang out,” Thomas said. “You’re always working. There are so many things and aspects of your game that you have to work on everyday.”
Thomas will represent the Cardinals along with outfielder Victor Roache, infielder Tommy Edman and pitchers Jake Woodford and Connor Jones at the All-Star Game June 26 in Midland.
