CARTHAGE, Mo–The Missouri State High School baseball playoffs continued Tuesday night with sectional play for the bigger class four and five schools.
In Carthage Tuesday, the hometown Tigers faced Kickapoo.
The Chiefs have won 23 games this season. Carthage was 11-20.
And Kickapoo gets on the board first, Kolton Giefer singles up the middle Garrett Reid scores and it’s 1-0 Kickapoo.
The Tigers were threatening with two on in the third, but Ian O’Malley grounds into the 6-4-3 double play to end the frame.
Sixth inning it’s 3-0 when Kickapoo gets a little insurance, Carthage throws the ball away at third, Geifer and Quin Reasoner both score 5-0. Carthage with four errors in the contest.
The Tigers load the bases in the seventh but Trason Vogt flies out to center and Kickapoo advances to the quarterfinals 5-0.
In other class five sectional baseball, Rolla loses to Hickman in eight innings.
In class four, Aurora needed nine innings but beat Nevada 6-5.
And Bolivar loses to Helias 4-2.
