Alice Heinzler broke two Drury scoring records on “Overflow the O’ Day,” hitting nine 3-pointers and tallying 41 points in the Lady Panthers’ 101-46 win over William Jewell.
Nearly 3,200 fans packed in to see a Drury doubleheader sweep, as the men overpowered Jewell in an 86-67 victory.
Heinzler, a Republic native, made 13 of 17 field goal attempts Saturday. She broke her own previous record with her ninth three in the fourth quarter, sending O’Reilly Family Event Center into a frenzy.
“That’s the best one I’ve ever played, hands down,” Heinzler said after the game. “High school, AAU, college – that will be one to remember, for sure. I’m just thankful for all my teammates to get me the ball, finding when I was open. It was just a fun atmosphere today.”
The tenth-ranked Lady Panthers improved to 18-2 on the season. The men are now 14-4. The two teams are a combined 18-1 at home.
Drury will host Truman State in a doubleheader Thursday beginning with the women’s game at 5:45 pm.
