The Strafford Lady Indians have won 82 consecutive basketball games. They completed the 3-peat in the state tournament, and Friday their best player received the top individual honor in Missouri high school basketball.
Hayley Frank is the 2018 Gatorade Player of the Year, across all 5 classes of girls hoops. The junior averaged 25 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists in Strafford’s second straight undefeated season.
Frank plans to sign with Mizzou in the fall, but she has one season left at Strafford, plus a tryout for the U.S. Junior Olympic team coming up this summer in Colorado Springs.
“It’s just really awesome, kind of a tribute to all the hard work over the years,” Frank said. “I want to go make a statement on the national level and just really see where I’m at on that level. Then, of course, win a fourth straight state title.”
“It’s the work and the time and the dedication that she’s put in, not just in the last couple years, but her whole life,” said Hayley’s father and head coach, Steve Frank. “She has just worked so hard and had a lot of dreams and a lot of goals. It’s a great tribute.”
