Gregerson Finishes Rehab in Springfield

Sports

St. Louis reliever Luke Gregerson threw his third straight scoreless eighth inning in Springfield Monday night as he works his way back from knee surgery.

The 34-year-old signed with the Cardinals after winning the World Series with Houston last season. However, the right-hander has dealt with minor injuries to his hamstring, oblique, shoulder and knee in 2018. Gregerson said he is ready to rejoin the St. Louis bullpen and help spark a run toward the playoffs, where he hopes to compete for the fourth time in five seasons.

“It doesn’t take more than a week to make up some ground once in a while,” Gregerson said. “One good week by us, another bad week by somebody else and you’re right back in the thick of it.”
