Missouri State started the men’s basketball season with a 77-28 thrashing of Evangel in exhibition play.
It may not have foreshadowed much about much about how the Bears will fare against Division I opponents, but we did glean some information about Dana Ford’s first MSU roster.
Kickapoo alum Jared Ridder returned home after initially enrolling at Xavier last fall. But NCAA rules demand a year of residency after a transfer before a player is eligible. Without a special waiver, Ridder will not be eligible to play until after first semester final exams in December.
Ford said Tuesday he filed all the appropriate paperwork and now waits for an NCAA ruling.
“They’ve been practicing everyday anticipating the chance to play,” Ford said. “As coaches, when we meet, we strategize without them, so they’ll be able to plug themselves in.”
Missouri State opens the regular season Tuesday at home against Oral Roberts.
