Five baseball Bears named All-Valley

NORMAL, Ill–The Missouri State Bears started their post season run Tuesday afternoon in Normal, Illinois at the Valley tournament.

In our Bear Nation report, a handful of players earned post season awards.

And leading the way is outfielder Dakota Kotowski.

Kotowski was named the Valley’s Freshman of the Year.

The Illinois native is second in the Valley with 11 homers this season.

He’s hitting .289 with 26 RBI.

Kotowski is the ninth Missouri State Bear to win the conference’s Freshman of the Year award.

His 11 home runs are third most by a freshman in school history, behind Ryan Howard and Jason Hart.   

Here’s a look at the other award winners:

Catcher Drew Millas was named first team All-Valley.

Outfielder Jack Duffy and pitcher Logan Wiley were named second team.

And first baseman Ben Whetstone was put on the Honorable Mention team.
