OZARK, Mo–The Evangel Crusaders kicked off the college football season Thursday night for the entire country.
Evangel and Southwestern Assemblies of God out of Texas played the first game in the nation at any level.
The Crusaders looking to improve on last year’s seven win campaign.
And Evangel would strike first in the first quarter, Cam Hardesty with the play action pass to Jansen Acklin, this is a 40 yard touchdown pass and it’s 7-nothing Crusaders.
In the second quarter, Evangel’s special teams step up, the SAGU punt is blocked by Jacob Eden, scooped up by Maurice Downey and he takes it in and it’s a 14-nothing Crusader lead.
The Lions kicked a field goal to make it 14-3.
But the Crusaders answer with Hardesty, he rolls to his left, and hits Brady Collier tip toeing along the sideline for a first and ten.
Then Hardesty hits Noah Pierce on this crossing pattern, he takes it 15 yards in for a touchdown it’s 21-3.
And Evangel wins the AG Bowl, 28-9.
