Evangel Faces A Top Ten Challenge

Sports

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Evangel Crusaders will continue their season opening three game homestand Saturday when they welcome Grand View to the Ozarks.

Evangel will play three straight home games to open the 2018 season.

The Vikings roll into town ranked tenth in the country in the NAIA poll.

Grand View has not played a game this season, while the Crusaders are coming off an upset of Southwest Assemblies of God.

Evangel’s defense held the Lions to minus six yards rushing for the game.

Another incentive, the Crusaders have never beaten Grand View.

They’re 0-3 all time against the Vikings.

“We are aware that they’re a strong team, very disciplined, well coached.  So we have that in mind.  And we have in mind that we can’t make mistakes.  But we don’t talk about our record against them,” said Crusader defensive tackle Drace Moeller.

“We try to keep everything even keel here.  The guys are excited about the win.  That was a big win last week, no question about it.  But now we move onto the next one.  And again it’s a ranked team,” said Evangel Coach Chuck Hepola.
