Drury opens GLVC tourney with loss


OZARK, Mo–The Drury Panthers opened up the Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball tournament Thursday against Illinois Springfield.

The Prairie Stars are the fourth seed and ranked 19th in the country in the NCAA D2 poll.

Double elimination, so the Panthers not out with a loss but trying to pull the upset.

Top of the fourth, Aaron Mann gets Drury on the board.

A solo shot deep over the left field wall earn’s the Panther’s their first run of the day.

But it didn’t matter much.

And here’s why: Bottom of the inning Tyler James on the mound in relief, his pitch goes wild to the plate a Prairie Star scores, it’s 8-1 Illinois Springfield.

Drury with five errors and nine walks on the day.

And the final score reflects that as Drury drops its tournament opener 11-2.

They’ll play the loser of Quincy and Lewis Friday at 12:30.
