Crusaders Look To End Drought At Benedictine

Sports

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Evangel Crusaders will continue their season opening road trip Saturday afternoon when they face Benedictine. The Crusaders will try to bounce back from a season opening loss at Grand View.

Evangel and the Vikings played even through the first half, but Grand View pulled away late to win by 20. The Ravens are coming off a big season opening win and are one of the stronger teams in the Heart of America North.

It’s been a decade since Evangel has won on the Ravens home field in Kansas. But the Crusaders feel they can challenge that streak this weekend.

“They’re not really changing what they’re doing. How they’re doing things. They’re a very well coached team, a well disciplined team. And it’ll be a fun game for us.  It’ll be a nice matchup and actually a lot  of fun.  It’s fun to play people like that,” said Chuck Hepola.

“They’re big and they’re strong. But I have faith in our O line. They’re not the biggest but we’re mean. They’re mean guys up front. All the stats from last game prove that we got what it takes,” said Evangel running back, Zayne Kyser.
