Chiefs Defense Struggles in Chicago

KC Blitz

Former Chiefs offensive coordinator and new Chicago head coach Matt Nagy decided to sit his starters for Saturday’s preseason game, but the Bears backups had their way with the Kansas City defense.

The Bears scored on their first three drives, as former Mizzou star Chase Daniel carved up a depleted Chiefs secondary. One missed assignment that stood out was Kevin White’s double move on newly signed veteran Orlando Scandrick on a 29-yard touchdown.

Patrick Mahomes and the first-team offense were solid, playing the entire first half and one series in the third quarter. The starting quarterback completed 18 of 24 passes for 196 yards and a touchdown pass to Kareem Hunt.

The Chiefs lost 27-20 Saturday and will finish the preseason Thursday at home against Green Bay.
