Carlson leads Cards past Drillers

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Springfield Cardinals returned to Hammons Field Tuesday night to open a six game homestand.

In town the Tulsa Drillers.

This is the tenth time these two have met this season.

But Springfield has won only one of those previous meetings.

And the Cards got started quick, lead off batter is Dylan Carlson, and he smokes this to right center, off the wagon gate, a triple, bad throw into third, allows Carlson to score, a little league home run, it’s 1-nothing Springfield.

Tulsa would cut into that lead, top of the third, Zach McKinstry singles to right, Carlos Rincon and Jordan Procyshen both score it’s 2-one Drillers.

Then in the fourth, Tulsa’s D.J. Peters takes this deep to left, over the fence, over the berm, into the concrete plant, a two run bomb and it’s 4-1 Drillers.

Springfield answers with Carlson, he cue ball’s this down the third base line fair, Irving Lopez and Rayder Ascanio both score it’s 4-3.

And the Cardinals go onto win 7-4.
