Cards drop third straight to open homestand

The Springfield Cardinals took their third straight loss Monday, allowing four runs in the seventh inning to the Tulsa Drillers in a 5-2 loss at Hammons Field.

The Cardinals tied the game at 1 in the first inning when Irving Lopez scored from second after an errant pickoff throw. In the second, catcher Jose Godoy’s hit down the first base line brought Randy Arozarena to the plate to make it 2-1.

But the Drillers rallied against the Springfield bullpen. In the seventh, Jacob Patterson walked in the tying run before Ronnie Williams gave up a run-scoring single to Keibert Ruiz and a two-run double to Chris Parmalee.

The Cardinals (18-26) will play Tulsa two more times on an abbreviated homestand before traveling to Arkansas on Thursday.
