Cardinals Roll Past RoughRiders

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–It seems a trip home to Hammons Field, was exactly what the Springfield Cardinals needed. After going 1-5 on the road in their first week of the season, the Cards are fresh off their first series win against Midland and were looking to do damage in their next series against Frisco.

Sunday was the first of three games against the RoughRiders.

Top of the first, the RoughRiders strike first, Hunter Cole goes up the middle. Michael O’Neill scores. To make it 1-0.

Riders had a 2-0 lead after the first but the Cards would heat up right away. Andrew Knizner gets one to drift to right. A bunch of birds come in to score. The three run double makes it 3-2 cards.

Springfield would put five on the board in the bottom of the first, as a pitch gets by with Darren Seferina at the plate. Knizner comes into score. It’s now 4-2.

And the Cardinals really poured it on in this one. Luke Dykstra singles up the middle. Victor Roache scores.
The Cards win big 14-3.
