Cardinals Lose Rain-Shortened Game

Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty recorded the first hit of his rehab assignment, but Northwest Arkansas scored five runs in the fourth inning in a 5-4, rain-shortened win at Springfield in Friday’s series opener.

The Naturals and Cardinals played only five and a half innings before storms returned to the area, washing out the final three and a half innings.

Piscotty lined a single to left field in the third inning and finished with one hit in three at-bats. The St. Louis outfielder finished 1-for-3, and has just the one hit in seven at-bats with Springfield.

The four-game series continues Saturday night at Hammons Field at 6:10 pm.
