Bears Win 5th Consecutive, Sweep Western Illinois

SPRINGFIELD, Mo — The Missouri State Baseball Bears continued their season this afternoon against Western Illinois. They started their 9 game home-stand off on the right foot yesterday with a victory against the Leathernecks, and looked to do the same today.

It’s always a good day for baseball! Senior Preston Felgate was on the mound, but it was the offense that impressed early.

Bases loaded in the 1st, and Aaron Meyer gets the job done. This shot to right gets down, and 3 Bears would come around to score for an early lead.

They were pressuring later in the inning, Matt Dezort hits the blooper to center, but shortstop Chris Tschida makes the nice diving catch to end the inning.

In the 2nd, a tough moment to watch with Hunter Steinmetz at the plate. He hits this ball to right center when 2 Leathernecks collide into each other.

That’s center fielder Justin Fitzpatrick and right fielder Drue Galassi. Fitzpatrick would leave the field on his own power, but the EMT’s would load Galassi up in the amblulance.

We will keep you updated on the status of those players as they become available. Bears win their 5th straight, 15-3.
