VALPARAISO, In–Sunday, the Bears were back in action for the first time since December 22nd. They were also looking for their first road win in the Missouri Valley Conference, playing at Valparaiso.
Valpo took Wichita State’s place, marking their first year in the conference.
And does Obediah Church know how to welcome a team to the Valley, monster slam. Obi finished with 10 points. Bears lead 7-5.
Later in the first half the Crusaders Marcus Golder flies through traffic and makes the tough lay up. Missouri State still leads 17-13.
In the second half Alize Johnson hangs in the air and banks it off the glass after a nice feed. Johnson finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds. It’s 51-26 Bears up.
The hot hand of the night though goes to Jarrid Rhodes, going 5-9 from three, had a team high 15 points.
Missouri State gets the convincing win 67-50.
“Well I thought everything was good. I thought we were really good in transition offense. I think we really made a concerted effort to push it and did some good things. Then obviously very good defensively, very good on the glass. Didn’t really like the way we played there with that big lead but that tends to happen. Anytime you go on the road and win, in any league, but particular in our league, you’ve got to be awfully happy about that,” said Paul Lusk.
