Bears Send Volleyball Team off to NCAAs

For the tenth time in 15 seasons, the Missouri State volleyball team is off to the NCAA Tournament.

Wednesday Melissa Stokes and her Bears boarded a bus outside Hammons Student Center, heading to Omaha for the NCAA Regional. Missouri State, ranked No. 25, will face 12th-ranked Michigan State in the opening round Friday at 4 pm.

The volleyball players and coaches were surrounded by fellow student-athletes, including the swimming and diving teams, fresh out of the pool.

“The swim team has always been such a great support system for us,” senior Lily Johnson said. We have great support from all our student-athletes, and these guys are no exception.”

The Bears will make their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

“This is the best. Missouri State Bears supporting Bears,” Stokes said. “It’s been an incredible year in athletics. We all support each other and it’s pretty special.”
