SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Missouri State Bears have made post season NCAA baseball tournament action a summer time tradition. The Bears will be playing in the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four years. And it’ll be the 11th time in division one history that the Bears have made NCAA action.
The Bears are the third seed in the Oxford regional and will battle second seed Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.
Tennessee Tech is the Ohio Valley regular season champion and won a school and league record 48 games. They won 28 straight Ohio Valley Conference games but lost in the conference tournament.
Missouri State won 39 games and the Valley’s regular season and post season tournament. Bears boss Keith Guttin says his crew is excited to advance.
“Haha, they would have been happy to go to Alaska, Gerald, they didn’t care. It’s a great honor to just be in the field. We have to play at our best, that’s basically the message that has always been there. When we play good baseball, we’ll have a chance,” said coach Keith Guttin.
