Bears Ready for National Exposure

It is game week for Missouri State Football.

Sunday Dave Steckel met with reporters ahead of the Bears’ season opener, a Thursday night kickoff at No. 25 Oklahoma State. This is year four for Stec in Springfield. Last year the Bears went 3-8, and Stec is 8-25 so far at MSU.

In Game 1 last season, the Bears put up a fight at Mizzou, scoring 35 first-half points before the Tigers pulled away late.
Stec does not anticipate any nervousness Thursday in Stillwater. He and the Bears will get national exposure this week in a primetime kickoff on FS1.

“Anywhere you play, people look forward to playing on national TV. They look forward to playing in front of packed houses,” Steckel said. “That’s what great competitors love to do. I think everybody’s very, very excited for it, especially the older guys that have drawn from the atmosphere last year.”

“It’s going to be fun. I’ve been blessed to play in some pretty cool venues since I’ve been here,” senior safety Jared Beshore said. “I got to play at the Liberty Bowl. Got to play against Mizzou. This year, getting to start off senior year at Boone Pickens Stadium, I’m excited.”

This week on KOLR10 news at 6, Dan Lucy will have plenty more on the Bearss kickoff, including the Oklahoma State perspective on their season-opening opponent.
