Bears Fall Victim To Late Timer Dagger


SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Missouri State Bears have just three games remaining in the regular season, with third place Drake in town Sunday, the Bears had a chance to change up the standings. The Bears sit in sixth place with a 7-8 record. 

Bears up one late in the fourth.Jarred Dixon floater just ahead of the shot clock. Bears are up 58-55.

Less than two to play Obediah Church cashes in from the elbow. It’s a four point Bears lead.

But the Bears would miss five free throws in the final minute. And off one of those misses. Graham Woodward drains the triple. Drake takes a 63-62 lead with 13 seconds left.

On the other end Alize Johnson gets fouled. He’d go to the free throw line. Alize makes the first and that ties the game at 63. Here comes the second. It’s no good.    
Drakes got the ball going the other way final seconds and Reed Timmer hits about a 30 footer and was fouled. A four point dagger as the Bears fall in dramatic fashion 67-63 the final.

“We didn’t quit. We kept coming. We found a way… we should have won the game. We should have won the game. You want those guys up there shooting free throws, you got to believe they are going to make them. That’s a heartbreaker there is no doubt about it,” said Paul Lusk.
