NORMAL, Ill–The Missouri State Bears faced Southern Illinois Thursday in the Valley post season tournament.

In our Bear Nation report, the winner moves on, the season is over for the loser.

Missouri State took two of three from the Salukis earlier this season.

But the Dogs jumped out in front early, top of the first, two on for Ian Walters.

He launches this rocket to right, a three run shot, and it’s 3-nothing Southern Illinois.

But the Bears rallied, bottom of the sixth, down 5-one, Joey Palak with a solo shot to left, 5-2.

He’s followed by Drew Millas, he takes this deep to left, back to back jacks, Missouri State withing two, 5-3.

But the Salukis kept scoring, top of the ninth, SIU up 9-5.

Nikola Vasic takes this deep to left, solo shot of his own, the Salukis were up 10-5.

But the Bears would not quit, it’s 10-7 when Dakota Kotowski smashes this over the boards in left, that makes it 10-9, but that’s as close as they get.

The game ends on a strike out looking, and Missouri State finishing the season with a 20-36 record.
