After MSU said no, Jackie goes to Oklahoma

Sports

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Jackie Stiles is leaving Missouri State for a second time in her career.

Oklahoma Sooner coach Sherri Coale introduced Stiles as the Sooners new assistant coach Wednesday.

The move comes a week after Missouri State named Amaka Agugua-Hamilton as its new coach.

Jackie Stiles told Art Hains on his radio show Wednesday afternoon that she was interested in the Lady Bears coaching job, but that Missouri State went in a different direction.

Stiles told Hains that when the job came open at Missouri State she knew she had to pursue it.

She said a fire lit in her and she never felt so alive.

Evidently, Missouri State Athletics Director Kyle Moats and President Clif Smart thought she was not a good fit.

Back in 2001 as a player, Stiles set the NCAA career scoring record and took the Lady Bears to the Final Four.

She then left Springfield for the WNBA.

Stiles returned to the Ozarks joining Kellie Harper’s staff six years ago.

The Lady Bears made the post season each year, including NCAA trips in 2016 and this past season.

Back when Stiles graduated from high school, Coales tried to recruit her to Oklahoma.

Wednesday, she finally got Jackie.
