SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Missouri State Bears returned to JQH Arena Wednesday night to play Evansville.
In our Bear Nation report, the Bears were looking for their third straight win.
Evansville on the other hand has not won a road game this season.
The Bears Tulio da Silva is the valley player of the week, and spins to the hole to make it 5-4 Aces.
Then Josh Webster with the steal, to Jan Woycik, he misses the dunk, but da Silva is there for the follow up dunk, it’s 19-18 Missouri State.
More Bears defense, the steal, to Ross Owens to Jarred Dixon for the hoop it’s 24-18 Missouri State.
Then Owens, the walkon, with the high arcing three, it’s 27-18 Bears.
Then Webster strong to the rack for the monster slam, 29-22 Missouri State.
But Evansville ended the first half on a 12-2 run and had a one point lead.
Second half, da Silva again for the slam dunk, it’s Bears back in front 41-40.
Then Jared Dixon with the three, Missouri State by six 46-40.
The Aces make another late run, Devan Straub with the three, its 60-56 Evansville.
And then Evan Kullman with another three, Evansville with a dozen of them, and the Aces win 70-64.
“Obviously I feel sorry for our seniors tonight. We play as well as we needed to play in order to beat a solid team on our home court. Some positives, more negatives. We struggled from the free throw line. And a reoccurring theme is our three point line defense which we’ll have to get figured out,” said Bears coach Dana Ford.
