SPRINGFIELD, Mo--For the past three and a half decades, the best high school basketball players in the country have strutted their stuff in the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions.
The 2018 event will tip off a week from Thursday at JQH Arena.
And the 34th annual event will once again feature some of the best players and teams around.
Wednesday morning the brackets were set, and five of the eight teams are ranked in the national top 20.
Two local teams will also take their cracks at these blue bloods of prep hoops.
Glendale will open against La Lumiere out of Indiana.
And Ozark will face perennial power Oak Hill Academy.
"There's no pressure on us. I mean, noone's going to expect us to go out there and beat them. But that doesn't mean we can't try. That's the best part about this. That's kind of what at Ozark, since I've been there, we've tried to stress competition, compete all the time, every possession, every game," said Ozark Coach Mark Schewitzer.
"Once they get out there on the court it's basketball. They might be bigger than us and faster than us. But our kids can play and shoot the basketball. And handle the basketball. So our kids are going to be excited to go out there and play in front of our home crowd," said Glendale Coach Brian McTague.
This is what opening night looks like, Wasatch Academy out of Utah will open against Brentwood Academy out of Tennessee at 5:00 p.m..
That will be followed by the La Lumiere game against Glendale.
Ozark and Oak Hill will be at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night.
The nightcap has Christ the King out of New York City against St. Louis' Webster Groves.
