SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Junior quarterback and safety Tyson Riley leading Catholic out to take on the Bison.
And it was a strong start for Buffalo’s defense. Bradley Hosiner jumps on the bobbled hand off. Buffalo’s got it.
But the Catholic defense would clamp down. The Bison can’t convert on 4th down in the redzone. So the ball goes back to the Fightin’ Irish.
Off the turnover on downs, Catholic’s Tyson Riley going deep. Lincoln Jones goes up and comes down with the football. 33 yard pitch and catch it’s 6-0 Catholic.
Later in the first, Buffalo gets on the board as Kyle Cooley throw a strike to Jared Gentry. No ones catching him. The Bison cut it to 14-6.
In the second quarter, the Irish going with the ground game. Heath Southwick punches it in Catholic takes a 21-6 lead.
The floodgates would open before the half would end. Riley tucks it and runs. He goes all the way to the house. Untouched. It’s now 28-6 after the Riley rush.
Then how about another Jones jump ball. Locates the pass and then finds the promise land. His second TD of the half. As it was 35-6 at the break.
In the second half Riley picks up his third rushing TD of the game, on this 18 yard scamper. Catholic wins big 47-20.
“We always come out and play hard. That’s all we need to do. We need to make plays. We had a great game. We go to Hollister, playing great. It’s my last year, I’m just looking to have a great rest of the season,” said Lincoln Jones.
“There was a little joke going around, when the stats came out last year, I was 39% passing, so every time I complete a pass they are like Tyson you are getting closer to 39%. So it feels good to complete a few passes out there. Our confidence is sky high, right now I feel like we can beat anyone. We just have a really good team,” said Tyson Riley.
