Wind Damage Reported to Homes in Dent County

SHORT BEND, Mo. -- Wednesday night's storms in the Missouri and Arkansas Ozarks blew up high winds and dropped large hail in many areas.

Authorities in Dent County report damage to at least two homes about 4 miles southwest of Sligo, Missouri.  The damage was reported about 11:00 p.m. in the Short Bend Township area off Highway 19.  A barn was also damaged.  The Highway Patrol and Dent County Sheriff's department reported the damage to the National Weather Service but a determination has not yet been made whether it was caused from straight winds or a possible tornado.  No injuries were reported.

Also around the region, large hail was reported in several counties.  Half dollar sized hail was reported near the Missouri-Arkansas line in Oregon County just southeast of Thayer along Highway 63 just before 1:00 a.m. Thursday.

In Camden County, quarter sized hail was reported just south of the Ha Ha Tonka State Park at about 8:30 p.m. 

And in Maries County, quarter sized hail was also reported 7 miles north of Dixon, Missouri.
