Weather Postpones NCAA Regionals in Mississippi

OXFORD, Miss. -- Last year in the NCAA Regionals, rain threw a monkey wrench into the Missouri State schedule.

So it only makes sense that in today's regional opener in Mississippi Mother Nature would make her presence felt.

And it was much worse in 2018.

Just about a half hour before game time down in Oxford, lightning put the game in a delay.

Then the thunderstorm hit, and the storm cells kept training over Swayze field.

Close to two inches of rain fell in a couple of hours, with up to two more inches forecast for later tonight.

Players were actually swimming in flooded dugouts.

The teams were sent back to their hotels by mid-afternoon and the games were ultimately postponed until tomorrow.

Here's a look at the revised schedule for the NCAA Oxford Regional.

The first game between Missouri State and Tennessee Tech will now be at noon tomorrow.

That game will be followed by the top seed Ole Miss against St. Louis at 6.

They will then play three games Sunday and hope to crown a winner on Monday afternoon.
