SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A teenager, facing trial as an adult for murder, entered a plea of not guilty in Greene County Circuit Court Friday morning
Trystan Westrip is accused of the October, 2016 murder of 80-year old Mary Shisler at her home in eastern Greene County.
Westrip is charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action, tampering with a motor vehicle and attempted arson.
His next court hearing is scheduled for October 11. He is being held without bond.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A teenager from Republic, accused of stabbing an elderly woman to death last October, will be arraigned as an adult Friday morning.
Trystan Westrip, now 17, was 16 when 80-year-old Mary Shisler was murdered at her home in the 8300 block of N. Farm Road 223 in Greene County.
This march, Westrip was certified to be tried as an adult. He’s charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action, tampering with a motor vehicle and attemped arson.
According to the probable cause statement, Westrip left his home the morning of October 21st after fightng with his parents.
He drove on back roads searching for abandoned homes when he arrived at Shisler’s residence.
He is accused of stabbing her multiple times, and leaving her body in a nearby field. He is also accused of trying to destroy evidence by setting the home on fire.
Westrip is currently being held in the Greene County Jail without bond. His arraignment is set for 8:30 this morning.
