UPDATE: Nixa Police are no longer on emergency status.
The City of Nixa said road conditions have improved overnight, but there are still some icy spots.
Drivers should remain cautious, but the main roads are “mostly clear,” according to the City of Nixa
NIXA, Mo. — Due to the icy roads, Nixa police are now on emergency status, according to a news release from the city.
The roads are making it hard for officers to respond to calls, the release says. The department will likely return to normal status in the morning.
This means that officers will only respond to “priority calls of service related to the general safety and welfare of the public, motor vehicle accidents involving injuries, suspected impaired drivers, or accidents where one vehicle leaves the scene of the accident (hit and run).”
If you’re involved in a non-injury accident, exchange information and insurance and then file an accident report after the department returns to normal status.
Nixa police say that you should stay home if you don’t need to drive.
