SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- UPDATE: 8:12AM Springfield police say Makayla Brown, 16, has been found safe.
A girl has gone missing from a Springfield shelter Monday evening and Springfield police are asking for help finding her.
Makayla Brown, 16, left the Ashley House located at 2740 E. Pythian at about 6:45 p.m., according to the Springfield Police Department's Facebook post.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol press release, she ran away from the shelter, possibly with her boyfriend Mason Thomas.
Brown is diabetic and insulin dependent. Police say she has no insulin in her possession and left the shelter with an elevated blood sugar level.
Brown has been known to suffer seizures when blood sugar levels remain elevated, according to the post.
She is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 152 pounds, has black hair with red roots and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing black leggings and a red t-shirt.
Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call 911.
