Traffic Diverted on Highway 65 for Bridge Repairs

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--Drivers in Springfield might also want to find an alternate route for Highway 65 near Ozark.

Crews are replacing the northbound bridge over Lake Springfield.

While they're doing the construction, they will be diverting traffic from the northbound bridge to the southbound bridge.

This part of a much larger project to widen the stretch of road to six lanes -- three in each direction.

MoDOT is asking drivers to be patient as they work on the project.

Johnny Teegardin, a MoDOT construction engineer said,"We asking that people to just give us ten more minutes in your day just to plan out your commute a little better because I think people get rushed a little bit and start seeing they're going to be late and they make some risky decisions"

Officials hope to have the work done by august.
