Third Suspect in Custody for Motel 6 Shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A third suspect has been arrested in relation to the Motel 6 shooting that occurred on December 29, 2017.

Cassidy Clayton, 29, is now in custody according to the Springfield Police. Clayton has been charged with second degree murder.

Clayton was found at 6:30 p.m. at 1417 N. Fulbright after a tip lead police there.

Two others, 29-year-old Andre Smiles and 31-year-old Tyson Hamm are also charged with second degree murder.

Stephen G. Dowd, 41, of Fredericktown, Mo. went to the motel to purchase drugs and was allegedly robbed, shot, and killed. Dowd had traveled four hours to purchase $1000 worth of methamphetamine, according to court documents.
